The hull framework consists of keel, side keel, rib, longitudinal bulkhead, bilge keel, stem, and sternpost, collectively forming the ship's skeleton. The keel primarily bears the longitudinal bending moment of the ship's body. The side keel bears part of the longitudinal bending moment and enhances the strength of the ship's body to withstand external forces.
The rib bears the lateral water pressure and maintains the geometric shape of the ship's body. The longitudinal bulkhead and rib together form a mesh structure to fix the ship's side plates and increase the structural strength of the ship's body. The bilge keel reduces the swaying phenomenon of the ship when sailing in waves.
The power of the ship comes from two different types of engines: turbines and steam engines. The steam engine consists of three parts: boiler, cylinder, and condenser. In the boiler, water boils into steam through the combustion process. The steam is then sent to the cylinder through pipelines. Valves control the timing of steam reaching the cylinder.
Steam in the cylinder drives the piston to perform work, and the cooled steam is led into the condenser through pipelines to condense back into water. This process repeats continuously while the steam engine is in motion.
